Copycats?
A Rotating Display Stand is the product that Plant Spinner is based on. A lot of us use the same manufacturer.

If you were to search Amazon for Rotating Display Stands, you would find 10-20 different companies selling something that looks exactly like a Plant Spinner. And there is a lot of variety:

Almost all Rotating Display Stands are produced by the same manufacturer. They produce the molds, the electronics, and they provide the packaging. There is one major difference: basic Rotating Display Stands from Amazon (or any other store) do not AUTOMATICALLY spin just a little bit once a day, every day. That's my special sauce, and the main function of Plant Spinner. Plant Spinner can also rotate like a regular display stand, which I like to call Party Mode!
You can see significant growth on this multi-cactus planter after 3 weeks on ASA, with party mode in between. Plant Spinner is working! This is getting EXCITING!
WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?
Plant Spinner works best with new or young plants. Spider plants do very well with it.

Not every plant needs a daily spin. Older, established plants that have already gotten used to their space and grown into it, may not benefit from a small rotation once a day. In another example, I have a cactus that parked itself on a ledge and refused to move anymore.
It’s obvious that the cactus grew well, and it definitely grew toward the light, but it seemed to grow more as it got closer to the window, and then slumped over once it found the right spot. It stayed like that until I repotted it. Now it has its own support:

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?
The rotating display stand market targets the same similar use cases: photography, social media videos, jewelry showcases. I am targeting plants. I am basically re-programming an already produced device, and marketing it to a different audience. There is some work to be done to turn it from a display stand into a Plant Spinner. And then there is the packaging, which is also custom, and includes a custom User Guide (The same one that needs updating).

INTO THE WILD
Here is something fun to leave you with, since I started shipping spinners, I am getting some pictures back. Here is a Plant Spinner at the doctors office:

I am curious to see what happens. It looks like this plant is about to topple over, but the doctor told me he thinks the plant is doing better! I see a plant fight in the making. I may need to tell customers to give plants a little more room for spinning, or else you can wind up with tangled leaves!
